National meetings

The first UK Core Managers forum was held on 1st November 2006 at the Technology Facility at the University of York. This was organised to provide a forum for managers of Core Flow Facilities to discuss matters of common interest.

Lively discussion and debate followed presentations from Greg Veltri (Setting up a Core Facility), Derek Davies (Measuring Laboratory output), Full Economic Recovery (Peter O'Toole), Standardisation (Brian Shenton) and Education (Rachael Walker, Greg Veltri and Alfonso Blanco).

The second meeting of this group was held on March 21st 2007 at Queen's Institute for Medical Research, Edinburgh where the delegates discussed standardisation in clinical Laboratories (Paul Williams, Brian Shenton and Ian Harvey), Biosafety specifically in regard to cell sorters (Ann Atzberger) and data anomalies (Ray Hicks).

The third meeting took place at Loughbourough University on Tuesday 11th November 2008 as a session within the Beckman Coulter Users meeting. Delegates were led in discussions about analytical cytometer standardisation by Ian Dimmick and Derek Davies and Biosafety by Simon Monard and Roy Bongaerts.

Since then, meetings have continued to grow in size and we hope to continue to foster collaboration and engagement in the community. you can find our next meetings below:
